About Me

Welcome friends. My name is Mariah Barr. I am a fully insured, Licensed Massage Therapist. After obtaining my training from Advanced Massage Therapeutics in Louisville, KY, I decided to start my own therapeutic massage practice. I graduated top of my class, in April 2025, and am trained in Swedish, deep tissue, injury assessment, trigger point therapy and myofascial release. I have found my soul’s calling in this holistic, healing profession. Coming from a 9-5 desk job in management, I understand the importance of slowing down to restore the mind, body and spirit with rest, relaxation and touch. The healing power of touch is necessary for our mental and physical health. Touch alleviates tension as well as opens pathways for self-discovery.

Massage is a sacred practice that has been around for centuries. Hippocrates used to prescribe massage treatments to promote the healing of injuries, which helped bring massage therapy traditions to widespread use in the western world. Therapeutic Injury Massage is my passion, as I love the challenge and problem solving that injury work entails.

I call my specific style of massage, intuitive therapeutic massage, meaning that I am able to identify areas of tension, pain or restriction, and tailor the massage accordingly. I mix modalities to customize every massage to your needs and goals. I am eager to help facilitate healing and melt your tensions away, as your body, mind and spirit surrender in the flow of therapeutic massage.

My services

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release uses specific techniques to stretch and repair the connective issue between your muscles (fascia). It helps your body heal properly from injuries and can restore range of motion.

Deep Tissue Massage

Designed to remove severe tension, deep tissue massage is a technique used to relieve both muscles and connective tissue below the surface. It helps to improve range of motion and heal injuries below the surface

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy focuses on the release of tension around specific nerve centers found throughout your body. It is great for relieving cramped and overused muscles.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. It is a classic massage that will ease your stress and allow you to slip into a calm state of relaxation.

Massage for Injuries

Massage therapy to help facilitate healing for injuries is a mix of myofasical, trigger point, deep tissue, Swedish and stretching. Injury massage works by breaking down scar tissue, improving blood flow, reducing inflammation and enhancing flexibility. Repetitive strain issues are the most common, and can show up as shoulder pain, low back pain, hip pain, hamstring pulls, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, rotator cuff pain, frozen shoulder, patella tendonitis, whiplash, tennis elbow, golfer's (climber's) elbow and ankle sprain. I also perform side-lying pregnancy massage for expecting mothers in their second and third trimester.

Frequently asked questions

  • I do not accept health insurance currently. It is something that I am working on for the future! I do take card, cash, Venmo and CashApp.

  • I have an In-Home Studio located in Crestwood, KY, that I work out of Monday - Saturday.

I am open to doing mobile massage for existing customers.

  • The sooner that I can assess you, the better. As soon as the soft tissue injury occurs, your body is laying down fibrous scar tissue to heal itself. The initial laydown of this tissue is erratic, so the sooner that I can start work on the area, the better. Soft tissue injuries do best if you follow MICE (movement, ice, compression, elevation), until I can assess you.

Depending on the injury, I may need to see you weekly/biweekly for shorter appointments to do more specific work.

  • Everyone is welcome here — regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or background. I’m proud to be a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community.
